Max and Federico Fico Gutiérrez will race this weekend at Trióvalo Internacional Tlajomulco, a magnificent 1,350-meter racetrack with a capacity for 21,000 people, reopened in 2016, an important venue in the NASCAR Mexico Series, located in the Guadalajara metropolitan area. It will be the fourth date on the calendar, out of a total of 12 in the year.
For Max Gutiérrez Guadalajara it means the opportunity to obtain a long-awaited victory and improve his championship position. He is in ninth place in NASCAR Mexico, stellar category, with 1 top 5, 2 top 10 and 91 points, 31 less than the leader.
Max will have a difficult weekend (Saturday 25 and Sunday 26) because he will also race on Friday June 24 in the United States in Nashville in the NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series.
Max already knows what it means to be on the podium at Trióvalo Internacional Tlajomulco. In 2017, at 14 years of age, he was second in Trucks in the first race there and second in the second race. In 2018 he was first place in the first test in Trucks and pole position in the second, the year in which he was crowned Champion. In 2019 he was fourth in the NASCAR Challenge in the first race and fifth in the second. In 2020, the year he was crowned NASCAR Challenge Champion, there were no races in Guadalajara. In 2021 he was eleventh place in the only race of the year, being Rookie of the Year in NASCAR Mexico, stellar category.
For Fico Gutiérrez it will be his first opportunity to race in Guadalajara with the NASCAR Challenge, in which he has just been promoted and where he has barely participated in the competitions in Tuxtla Gutiérrez (where he made his debut), Querétaro and Chihuahua (at night).
Although Fico has already climbed to the podium in third place in the only race in Guadalajara in 2021 in the Trucks México Series category, where he obtained third place in the championship at the end of the season.
The Gutiérrez brothers (Gutiérrez Brothers, as they are known in the neighboring country to the north) participate in both NASCAR Mexico and NASCAR United States, with a busy and extensive schedule, on their way to reach the top of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing.
Max (19 years old) and Fico (16) are ambassadors for TOUGHBUILT, SEARS, BOLSADX, TEKNEKK, TELCEL, ZTE, REYNET, AVAYA and COSEIN, at Escudería Telmex Telcel.
