PÉREZ DE LARA RECOVERS SUB-LEADERSHIP OF ARCA AFTER CLOSING SECOND IN ILLINOIS

The Telmex Telcel driver arrived in Springfield installed in third place in the championship, just one point behind Frankie Muniz, with whom he has held a lively duel for the sub-leadership of the classification.

Aboard the #2 Rev Racing car, he set a qualifying lap of 36.413 seconds, to move into the twelfth step on the starting grid, from where he produced a great comeback.

Pérez de Lara displayed solid handling, sparing no risk, which allowed him to climb the one-mile (1,609-kilometer) dirt oval.

Halfway through the race, when a red flag was registered, he was in fourth place, ready to attack towards the second part of the competition, agreed to 100 laps.

In the restart, the Mexican youth made a good jump to second place. Towards the final stretch of the contest, he very decisively retained second place, leaving Illinois with a great result, which places him as the tournament’s absolute sub-leader, since Muniz was seventh.

The next date, the fifteenth, will be run next Sunday at the Milwaukee Mile.
